Stoughton board amends and adopts resolution affirming support for all students; adds students with disabilities

The Stoughton Area School District Board of Education voted to amend and adopt a resolution reaffirming its support for all students and to explicitly include students with disabilities in the groups named in the resolution.

A board member moved to approve the resolution as presented; the motion was seconded. During discussion, board member Lisa Pugh said she wanted to add language explicitly referencing students with disabilities and abilities, noting that students with disabilities may be affected by changes at the federal level and by shifts in available grants and programs. Pugh proposed amending the resolution to insert references to students with disabilities alongside other groups such as students of color and LGBTQ+ students.

Pugh moved the amendment; Joe Frey seconded it. Board member Tim Buban accepted the amendment. The board then voted to adopt the amendment by voice vote. The board subsequently voted to approve the amended resolution; the chair announced the motion was adopted and the resolution was adopted.
