Transportation and Land Use Committee adopts Western Loudoun stakeholder meeting dates

The Loudoun County Transportation and Land Use Committee on April 24, 2025 voted to adopt three stakeholder meeting dates for the Western Loudoun rules, uses and standards project.

The committee approved the calendar by voice vote, recorded as 5-2-0. The dates the committee recommended for adoption into the project schedule are June 18 (wineries, limited breweries and limited distilleries), Sept. 30 (Mountainside Overlay District and signage) and Nov. 5 (food trucks, food service and rural restaurants).

Staff asked the committee to recommend the dates to the Board of Supervisors as part of the project’s public-engagement schedule. Committee chair moved to adopt the remainder‑of‑year calendar during the special meeting; members seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.

The adopted dates will be added to the calendar for the Western Loudoun stakeholder process. Staff noted the June 18 date will occur on the same day as a regular TLUC meeting and that the September and November sessions will be standalone stakeholder meetings. The schedule is intended to guide the remaining public sessions for the multi‑phase zoning review of rural and agricultural uses.

Staff said the stakeholder process includes seven planned meetings; the committee’s vote covers meetings 4, 5 and 6. The committee did not take additional substantive action on agenda items at the time of the calendar vote.

What happens next

The committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for formal adoption into the county calendar. Staff said it will also log public input gathered at each session and carry outstanding issues into later meetings in the project sequence.
