Port Jervis students present mental-health and peer-support projects; youth coalition shows PSA

Students and advisors for the Port Jervis Youth Coalition presented the group's activities to the Port Jervis City School District board on April 24, highlighting peer-support projects, donation drives and a student-produced public-service announcement.
Jennifer Grismore, the high school social worker and a co-adviser to the coalition, introduced officers and explained that the club works with school staff, Middletown Police and Catholic Charities. Student officers described several projects: a social-and-wellness and kindness program, "Pin It Forward" (decorated clothespins distributed with positive messages), donation drives for hygiene products and a student-produced PSA about teen violence and mental health awareness.
Students asked the board and community to view the PSA that had been shared on social media and thanked advisors and local partners; Grismore and the students noted this was a new level of professional collaboration including professional photographers and local law enforcement participation.
Student report and recognition
Junior class representative Emma Barr delivered a student-board report summarizing recent school events, trips and extracurricular activities. The board also recognized the Port Jervis Middle School drama club for a performance of Newsies Jr. and acknowledged a security staff member whose fast response aided a choking student.
