Regent Pete Diaz, reporting for the Physical Facilities Committee, said facilities management has identified campus maintenance items that must be addressed to meet a sanitary permit requirement, listing an estimated $230,000 of repairs ranging from cracked tile to paint chips. Diaz said the university is working with deans and administrative officers to prioritize and implement fixes.
Construction status for major capital projects reported to the board:
- Student Success Center: 73% complete; expected substantial completion in August 2025. - School of Engineering: 91% complete; target completion June 2025. The school is seeking additional funding for furniture, fixtures and equipment. - Water Environment Research Institute (EDA project): 46% complete; expected completion October 2025. - School of Health: 47% complete; expected completion October 2025.
Diaz said the university issued a bid for a new VoIP communications system and projects roughly $340,000 in savings from the replacement. The plan is to repurpose those savings for IT modernization work such as cabling, servers and applications, Diaz said. Facilities staff answered committee questions to the committee members' satisfaction, according to the report.

Context
The four projects are the major elements of the university's recent capital expansion and were discussed repeatedly in committee updates during the spring.
