The Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency board on April 23 approved Resolution 2025-2 honoring interim Executive Officer Arnie Ansel for his service to the agency, including his work during a year in which he assumed interim executive responsibilities.
Board members praised Ansel for improving stakeholder engagement and agency transparency. Chair West said Ansel "handled it with grace" during an unexpectedly quick turnaround; multiple directors described his approach as "listening," "direct" and supportive of staff. United staff also offered gratitude: John, representing United staff, said United appreciated Ansel's "cooperation" and willingness "to push back when pushing back on some of United's ideas [was] appropriate, but also willing to listen."
The board received a public comment in support of the resolution. A motion to approve Resolution 2025-2 was made and seconded; the board then took a roll-call vote and approved the resolution. The motion was approved by voice/roll call; members recorded unanimous approval during the roll call.
The resolution notes that Ansel will retire in the coming week and recognizes his work on agency budget reports, stakeholder outreach and coordination on litigation and staffing. Board members invited Ansel to continue advising the agency; Chair West said the county Board of Supervisors may consider bringing Ansel back on an as-needed basis.
The resolution was approved on April 23, 2025.
