City employees’ benefits counseling helped raise $7,500 for UNC Children’s, city and partners say

Doug Russell of Benefits That Benefit Children described a cause-marketing program run with Pierce Insurance Agency that raises donations when employees meet with benefit counselors or enroll in certain voluntary products. He said carriers and participating vendors reduce margins or donate small monthly amounts per participating employee so the program can fund charitable contributions without lowering employee coverage.
Russell described UNC Children’s as a statewide health system with nationally ranked specialties and said money donated to the hospital’s excellence fund supports patient services and unmet needs not typically covered by institutional funding. City staff thanked the program partners and asked to photograph representatives and employees accepting the check.
