Senator Bohachuk, the bill sponsor in the committee, told members the measure "very simply just, returns, the bill the way it left the Senate," and said the action was needed because language placed in the House version had been ruled not germane. "So we want to keep the Bill moving because the rest of the language needs to happen," he said.
The committee made the motion and a second was recorded before the roll call. Senators recorded voting yes included Senator Yoder, Senator Paul, Senator Kidura, Senator Henley, Senator Bassler, Senator Bach, Senator Haldman, Senator Kreider, Senator Charbonneau and Chairman Bridal. The committee clerk announced, "Passes 10 to 0." No formal debate on policy content was recorded on the committee floor for the item.
Returning the bill sends it back to the originating chamber for further action on the disputed language; the committee did not adopt substantive changes on the record during this meeting.
The committee moved on to the next item on its agenda after the vote.
