Sarpy County's noxious-weed program earns high marks; superintendent urges landowner cooperation

"They won't always reflect this nicely. It all is dependent on landowner participation and cooperation," Nelson said, acknowledging stakeholders who assisted county efforts. He said the county earned scores he described as outstanding and noted the timing of plant growth increases the need for early outreach.
Nelson said his general notice is published in the newspaper and that his office will be working with landowners on control plans, education and certified weed-free forage verifications required by some federal and state agencies. He also said he now serves on the Nebraska Invasive Species Council and can leverage that membership for local questions.
Commissioners congratulated Nelson on the report, noting that such performance requires consistent effort and cooperation from landowners.
