At an organizational meeting, the Stoughton Area School District Board of Education elected its officers, approved the board meeting calendar and agenda format for 2025–26, and voted to table proposed work-group assignments until its May 5 meeting.
Jill Patterson was elected board president by roll call, with eight votes in favor and one abstention. Lisa Pugh was elected vice president, Allison Sorg was elected board clerk, Mia Croyle was elected deputy clerk, and Zach Masa Myers was elected board treasurer; each of those officer elections was recorded as eight yes votes and one abstention. Patterson accepted the nomination before the vote, saying, "I accept." Zach Masa Myers likewise said, "I accept," when nominated for treasurer.
The board approved the May 2025–April 2026 meeting schedule as presented and approved the regular board meeting agenda format. Both items were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the meeting.
Board members raised questions about the proposed work-group assignments, saying they had not had sufficient time to review the chart that distributed members across ad hoc work groups and that some assignments would need revision now that newly elected officers had been determined. One board member asked that the proposed assignments be provided to members in advance so they could review them. The board voted to table the work-group assignments until the May 5 regular board meeting. During that discussion, President Patterson asked staff members Dan and Rachel to populate the assignment chart to reflect the elections and to distribute the updated document to board members as part of the next meeting packet; Patterson said staff would email it the following morning.
The meeting closed with the board setting its next meeting for May 5 at 6:30 p.m. and adjourning by roll call vote.
