Council approves consent agenda, multiple board appointments and College Gardens Park mural design

Volunteer appointments approved by voice vote included: Eddie Friedman and Steve Bennett to the Community Policing Advisory Board; Lisa K. Farhi and Michael Berman (reappointments) to the Education Commission; Dominic Roussouli to the Human Rights Commission; Mike Walsh to the Retirement Board; and Alan Kaplan and Richard Rosano (reappointments) to the Senior Citizens Commission. The council recorded those appointments as motions with seconds and unanimous voice approval.
On the pulled item, Councilmember Valeri asked about the scope of community outreach used to develop the College Gardens mural design. Staff said they held a community meeting on February 19 with limited attendance and that the artist largely retained the earlier concept while incorporating modest adjustments. Councilmember Valeri moved approval of the College Gardens Park mural design; Councilmember Shaw moved and Councilmember Jackson seconded the motion and the council approved the mural design by unanimous voice vote.
Ending: Staff will maintain records of the approvals and follow up where councilmembers asked for additional outreach or documentation (for example, broader community engagement on public art projects).
