County planning starts workgroups and youth engagement for comprehensive plan update

A representative of the Carroll County Bureau of Comprehensive Planning told the Taneytown Planning Commission that the county will launch three workgroups next week for its comprehensive plan update: housing, agriculture and economic development. The workgroups will meet through August and will make recommendations to the county planning commission for the countywide comprehensive plan revision.
The county planning representative also reported that staff have begun youth engagement activities, meeting with a youth group from the Boys & Girls Club to gather input. Annual report materials related to planning will be drafted and provided to the commission in the coming weeks.
No formal action was required of the Taneytown commission; the county representative said she would keep the commission posted on the adequate public facilities ordinance review the county commissioners requested the county planning commission consider in future meetings.
