The West Haven City Council introduced Damien Rodriguez as the city’s newly hired city planner. Mayor Rob Vanderwood and staff welcomed Rodriguez, who said this meeting was his first day on the job and that he was still completing credentialing and gaining system access.
Rodriguez said he is available by email and phone at the municipal office while he completes setup. He told the council he brings prior experience from Ogden City (three years) and research and teaching experience from Weber State University and elsewhere; he also said he holds undergraduate and graduate degrees and will help the city with zoning and the forthcoming economic development and land-use planning efforts. Rodriguez told the council he lives near the Mill Park area.
In his remarks Rodriguez said, "I will be available by email and phone here at the municipal office if anybody needs me," and staff members and elected officials welcomed him to the role.
The introduction was presented as a noncontroversial personnel item; no vote was recorded on the personnel introduction at the public meeting.
