District technology staff told the board Minooka CCSD 201 adopted ParentSquare as its district communication app and is running an early-adopter pilot with about 40 teachers. The district is building training materials and an FAQ for staff and parents and plans a wider launch for building-wide announcements in the near term.
The technology update also covered registration and enrollment monitoring. Staff showed registration and submission trends and said preliminary kindergarten registration is a key variable; as of the meeting the district had about 79 new registrations for kindergarten (figure provided in conversation), and primary center enrollment is ongoing. The district said new residential development in Shorewood, Minooka and Joliet will be monitored as it may affect future enrollment.
Staff reported recent turnover in the technology department — roughly 30% of the team over two months — and said they promoted from within and hired external candidates to fill critical roles. The technology leader said job descriptions will be adjusted before external recruitment to attract better candidates and optimize support for teaching and learning.
Board members asked about registration projections; staff said enrollment looks stable overall but noted cohort size variations and that kindergarten is a wild card. Communications around registration will continue via the new ParentSquare platform, targeted emails and texts.
