Council awards $1.41 million pavement repair contract, staff warns city is underfunding roads

The Folsom City Council on April 24 approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a construction agreement with Consolidated Engineering Inc. for the fiscal year 2024'025 pavement repair and resurfacing project.
Ryan Chance, engineering manager in public works, told the council the department publicly advertised the project and received nine bids, with the lowest responsive bid at $1,409,000. Chance said the engineer's estimate had been $1,700,000. He described the work as a citywide mix of slurry seal, crack filling, localized dig-outs and concrete work that will address dips around manholes, bumps and other pavement distress.
