Oxnard planning staff recommends council deny appeal, uphold approval of 280‑unit Pointe Apartments project

City of Oxnard planning staff recommended that the City Council find The Pointe Apartments project consistent with an earlier certified environmental review and deny an appeal that challenges the project's environmental review and density.

Daniel Hauck, associate planner with the City of Oxnard Planning Department, told the council that the project at 2801 North Oxnard Boulevard would consist of a 546,524-square-foot, four-story apartment building with a centrally located parking garage rising 5.5 stories and 490 parking spaces, and a total of 280 units. "The claims of the appellant are completely without merit," Hauck said, summarizing staff's position on the appeal.

The recommendation follows earlier administrative approvals: the Community Development Director initially approved Planning and Zoning Permit No. 232001 in December 2024, and the Planning Commission denied an appeal of that approval on Feb. 6 (thereby sustaining the director's decision). An appellant later filed an appeal to the City Council on Feb. 20.
