Council OKs purchase of 10 flags to support Morgan High cheerleaders’ fundraising program

Morgan City Council agreed to support the Morgan High cheerleaders’ 2025 flag-fundraising program by purchasing 10 flags for holiday display.
At the April 22 meeting, cheerleaders Capri Crowther and Hadley Weeks told the council they would place flags on holidays including Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Pioneer Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day and Election Day. They asked whether the city would again purchase flags for display. The cheerleaders said one flag costs $35.
Council members agreed the city would buy 10 flags; the arrangement follows last year’s distribution (six at the city building, two at the Riverside Park entrance and one at each cemetery entrance, north and south). The council did not take a formal recorded roll-call vote on the purchase during the public presentation; staff instructed the cheerleaders to submit an invoice for the flags. The council indicated the flags would be placed "in front of our building" and at the park and cemetery entrances as appropriate.
Ending: The cheerleaders will invoice the city for the approved 10 flags at $35 apiece; placement will follow previous-year locations unless the council directs otherwise.
