Education Foundation reports grants and scholarships; Athletic Foundation previews jumbotron and June golf fundraiser

The foundation reported that last year it gave "over $43,000" in grants and that it approved a little over $26,000 in grants for the current year. Anderson said the foundation awarded $8,700 in scholarships and distributed $10,725 through an "Adopt a Classroom" program. She noted the foundation has completed rock-wall installations that now place a climbing wall in every district elementary school.
Upcoming events and fundraising: Anderson said the foundation will hold a radio-thon with Lakes Media (9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, as announced in the presentation) and that the Hall of Fame will return in the fall in conjunction with Homecoming. She also introduced board members present at the meeting, including vice president Tyler Bredesen and other board members.
Cardinal Athletic Foundation: Anderson also shared highlights from the Cardinal Athletic Foundation, including outdoor and indoor jumbotron installations and a major fundraiser (a golf event scheduled for June 7). She listed Cardinal Athletic Foundation board members and named Matt Fisher as a contact for the golf event.
Why it matters: Foundation grants and community fundraising support student programs and equipment that are not always covered by the district operating budget.
