Council approves equipment purchases and appoints Trey Herron as water department general manager

The council approved the purchase of a thumb-tine grapple attachment from Thompson Cat for $6,016.95 for the street department; a heavy-duty JMA trailer from Load and Go Trailers in Hamilton for $7,000 to haul a roller machine and other equipment; and a 3-ton split heat-pump unit for city hall from Nick's Heating and Cooling for the lowest bid, $6,500. Motions and seconds were recorded for each item; the council called each vote and moved the items forward with “all those in favor.”
The council also removed a guest-appearance item from the agenda to reschedule it for a work session and agreed to accommodate presenters at a future work session.
In personnel business, the council offered the general-manager position for the water department to Trey Herron and set his pay at $1,250 per week. A motion and second to appoint Herron were recorded and the council called the vote with “all those in favor.”
