San Antonio Board of Adjustment approves several variances, denies two requests and continues one

The San Antonio Board of Adjustment on May 1 (recording date shown in meeting materials) approved a mix of zoning variances and special exceptions, allowing modifications to setback, buffer and fence rules in several cases, while denying a proposed expansion of a digital roadside sign and one short-term rental permit. A separate short-term rental hearing was continued so the applicant could secure neighborhood support and resolve city tax/account matters.

Why it matters: Board decisions change what property owners may legally build or operate and affect nearby residents’ privacy, traffic and neighborhood character. The meeting included appeals and renewal requests for short-term rentals (STRs), as well as commercial-landscape and signage variances along I-10, a major corridor through San Antonio.
