Providence council names Mount Pleasant Little League fields for Hahn, Izzo and Tracy Jr.

The Providence City Council on April 17 unanimously approved a resolution to name three baseball/softball fields at Mount Pleasant Little League after longtime volunteers and coaches Dr. Arnold Hahn, Tom Izzo and Leo Tracy Jr.
The resolution says Dr. Arnold Hahn helped found the Mount Pleasant Little League in 1951 and credits him with expanding the league from its original four teams; it recognizes Tom Izzo’s coaching tenure from 1978 to 1993 and notes Leo Tracy Jr.’s more than 30 years of coaching and leadership in fast-pitch softball, including state championships in 2002–2004. The resolution directs that a copy be sent to the families and to city departments responsible for recording and implementing the honorary designations.
The sponsor thanked family members and league leaders present in the gallery, including Mount Pleasant Little League President Matt LaBranch and Jessica Tracy. The sponsor also said the council will name dugouts after Mr. Box and Mr. DeSimone on Field 1 and that signage will be posted to mark the dedications. After the resolution was read into the record, the council held a voice vote and the measure passed; family members were invited up for photos.
The resolution asks the Department of Public Works and the Board of Park Commissioners to record and implement the honorary field designations. The resolution does not include a budget appropriation for signs or ceremonies; the sponsor said staff have been working with league representatives on logistics.
