The City Council voted 4-0 to abandon approximately 649 square feet of Jack White Street at its eastern terminus and clear a leftover sliver of right-of-way missed during a prior road realignment and roundabout construction.
Staff cited Transportation Code Chapter 311 as the legal authority for municipalities to vacate or close streets and said a broker's opinion valued the small parcel at approximately $1,000. City staff recommended approving the abandonment so the area can be incorporated into the surrounding property’s development plan and sold at fair market value to the adjacent owner.
Mayor Pro Tem Tim Walker moved approval; Council member Grant seconded. The motion passed 4-0.
