The board first approved the minutes from its April 22 meeting by voice vote. The board then considered open bids for a 25 asphalt paving project and recommended awarding the work to American Asphalt for $472,190.55; a competing bid from RC Pavers was listed at $561,004.63. The board moved and seconded the contract award and approved it by voice vote.
On a separate procurement for downtown parking improvements, staff presented four bids and the board awarded the contract to Hassan's in the amount of $247,004.07. Other bids reported were Pember Companies at $280,482.20, Petrarch at $280,859.00 and Switlick at $288,253.50. The board approved the recommended award by voice vote.
The board approved pay estimate No. 17 to Yellowstone Construction for PFAS-treatment work at the city drinking water treatment facility in the amount of $73,006. The board’s packet indicated the estimate had been reviewed by the city’s consultant, who recommended payment; the board approved the payment by voice vote.
Members also discussed and approved Amendment 8 to the agreement with Becker Hoppe for design services related to the Wausau Downtown mall redevelopment. Staff described the amendment as a time-and-materials authorization to keep the design consultant available to answer construction questions during the remainder of the construction season, estimated at up to five hours per week, with an estimated amount of $28,540. Public Works staff said, “I believe it says up to 5 hours a week for the remainder of the construction season.” The board moved, seconded and approved the amendment by voice vote.
All formal motions recorded in the meeting were moved, seconded and adopted by voice vote with no opposition recorded in the transcript. The meeting adjourned after the listed agenda items were completed.
