Commissioners said the billboard structure appears partially removed or damaged and agreed it should either be upgraded to meet character standards or taken down. One commissioner said they drove by and saw only "a pole with a little piece of a sign" and suggested staff contact the property owners to determine whether the billboard remains active or who currently controls it.
Staff and commissioners noted uncertainty about the permit holder. A participant said "there's no Venture Outdoor in Utah" and that the only Venture Outdoor Advertising found was in Kansas; staff agreed to reach out to local property owners (including Fred Barker and Rob, identified in the meeting as local property holders near 850 North) to determine whether the CUP should be resolved, the sign removed, or the permit reissued.
The commission did not take formal regulatory action at the meeting but asked staff to research current sign ownership and return with options for enforcement or resolution of the CUP.
