Residents report inoperable fire hydrants on McDonald Road and Falcon Point; council member says parts arriving

During public comment on April 30, resident Steve Wydra said two fire hydrants on McDonald Road have been wrapped in black trash bags — a sign he said indicates the hydrants are not in service — and that the condition has persisted since September.
"Since September, there are two fire hydrants on McDonald Road that have black trash bags on them which signify that they're inoperable," Wydra said. He said one such bag has come off because of weather, but another at the front of Falcon Point remains covered.
Wydra said he did not know who was responsible for repairs and urged action to avoid a future firefighting limitation. "I'd hate for someone to lose their life or their property because, you know, the fire department goes out there, oh, we can't use this," he said.
A council member addressed as Aaron responded that he had been receiving updates from Mike Shook and that parts had arrived about two months earlier and were scheduled for installation. "I'll visit with him in the morning and send out an update to the council," the council member said.
No formal action was taken at the session; the council indicated staff follow-up would occur.
