The text of the proclamation listed a range of volunteer roles: homework coaching, English-conversation facilitation, adult literacy tutoring, Make-and-Take kit assembly, data-entry and shelf reading, book sorting and selling, job coaching, advocacy and outreach. The proclamation thanked "the 1,479 volunteers who support and enhance our libraries."
Library staff and Friends members said the volunteer hours provide vital support for library programs and operations. At the meeting, officials urged volunteers to log their hours to ensure the system captures the contribution levels used for reporting and advocacy.
