IndiGo recognizes operators and staff; team competed at APTA Rodeo and participated in peer review

IndiGo President and CEO Jennifer Pierce presented employee recognitions for March: coach operator Thomas Jacobs was highlighted for 40 years with the agency and more than 27 years of safe driving; coach operator Lakita Smith was named operations employee of the month for 13 years of service and a spotless safety record; and Hector Gonzalez of the HVAC team was named garage employee of the month.
Pierce also reported on staff participation in the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) International Bus Rodeo, an annual competition and training event that included workshops on mindful driving, resilience, combating human trafficking, high‑voltage safety, and electric HVAC innovations. She said Indigo sent LaShawn de McGee to compete in the professional coach operator category after winning the agency’s internal rodeo, and a mechanics team—Adam Sprock, Alex Walker and Jerry Durham—competed in the maintenance track after winning the Indigo internal event.
Pierce described a recent APTA‑facilitated safety and security peer review for another agency (SunLine Transit Agency) that included IndiGo’s director of risk and safety, Brian Clem. She said APTA covered Brian Clem’s travel expenses and that participation provided lessons and networking Indigo will apply to its own safety work.
