Robert Eby chosen chair; Sarah Simpson elected vice chair of oversight committee

The Comprehensive Plan Oversight Committee elected Robert Eby as chair and Sarah Simpson as vice chair during its April 24 meeting.

Nominations for chair and vice chair were taken during Action Item 2. Multiple members nominated peers and themselves. After nominations, the committee held a voice/roll-call vote that resulted in Robert Eby receiving the chair position.

The vice chair selection initially produced a tie between nominees; the committee briefly tabled the vice chair vote when one member had not yet arrived. After reconvening and removing the item from the table, members gave nominees the opportunity to speak. The committee then conducted a roll-call vote and selected Sarah Simpson as vice chair.

Why it matters: The chair and vice chair preside over meetings, approve agendas, execute approved minutes and help maintain order. The officers also serve as the committee's primary liaisons when presenting to planning commission and city council.
