Edwards said floors two through four will include 36 affordable housing units (12 studios, 6 one‑bedroom units, 12 two‑bedroom units and 3 three‑bedroom units), with a sublevel parking garage. Edwards requested support for a property‑tax exemption limited to the band’s governmental services portion of the property.
Committee members said the request is unique and requires precise language that limits the exemption to the tribe’s governmental functions. The committee laid the bill over for further work on drafting precise statutory text.
