The bond issuance was approved 7-0 (one council member, Angela Steens, was absent). The council also approved a contract package for Garrett Park that includes a construction contract with Sands Construction and four independent agreements for related work, including installation of new pickleball courts. Construction for Garrett Park is scheduled to begin no later than June 1 and reach substantial completion by December 2025. Council members approved the park contracts on a single 7-0 vote.
Separately, staff presented final plans and the council approved three separate motions to authorize an emergency repair and replacement of a stormwater pipe on Sixtieth Street in Monticello immediately adjacent to Middle Valley High School; those motions passed on individual 7-0 votes. The project is scheduled for summer break to limit impacts to the school.
The council also approved a contract to renovate the city’s facilities and IT building on a 7-0 vote.
