The Revere City Council voted to grant a Chapter 148 license for fuel storage at 93 Bennington Street after the city's fire department reviewed and approved the applicant's proposed storage configuration.
Attorney Quinn O'Sullivan, representing Sora Revere Owner LLC, told the council the request seeks approval for a 500-gallon above-ground diesel fuel tank in a first-floor, contained fuel-storage room (for the building's fire-suppression system) plus a 150-gallon rooftop day tank for a building generator. The proposed project includes a 114-space parking garage and related generator systems.
Neighbors asked clarifying questions at the hearing about the location of the tanks and safety implications for adjoining buildings. One neighbor said he had been told initially all fuel would be on the roof, and was relieved to learn the larger 500-gallon tank would be located on the first floor in a fire-approved storage room, with only the 150-gallon day tank located on the roof.
O'Sullivan confirmed the fire department inspected and approved the plans and the storage-room configuration; that approval is recorded in the application materials. The council took a roll-call vote and granted the Chapter 148 license for storage of flammables at the stated locations.
The council record notes the Revere Fire Department signed off on February 3 and that the applicant provided plans showing the fire pump and fuel storage-room layout. The council recorded that it will continue to rely on the fire department's oversight for safe operation and compliance.
The license was granted on the council floor by roll call; the approved license will be conditioned on the plan and any fire-department requirements already indicated in the application record.
Quinn O'Sullivan explained the 500 gallons are intended to supply the fire-suppression pump, while the 150-gallon rooftop day tank supplies the generator; fire-department sign-off is part of the application package.
