Citizens Advisory Committee closes academic year; Taste of NA fundraiser set for May 21; AWA center assistant leaves for superintendent role

During the April 23 meeting the North Allegheny School Board received routine board reports: the Citizens Advisory Committee wrapped up its work for the academic year; the North Allegheny Foundation announced its Taste of NA fundraiser will be held at Sorgo Orchards on May 21; and the A.W.A. degree center reported a staffing change.

Doctor Sankowiak reported that the Citizens Advisory Committee held its last meeting of the academic year and thanked members for their time advising the board. He also announced that the North Allegheny Foundation will hold its Taste of NA fundraising event at Sorgo Orchards on May 21 and that tickets are in high demand.

Mrs. Blackburn delivered the A.W.A. degree center report and said the center is still working on its budget and will vote soon. She also reported that the assistant executive director, Dr. Watkins, who had been serving as principal, accepted an assistant superintendent position with the Grove City Area School District and will be leaving the center. Blackburn said the position is geographically closer to Watkins's residence and expressed that the center is proud of his advancement.

Doctor Shaw delivered the legislative report and said there was nothing new to report this month.

No board action or votes were recorded on these reports at the meeting; they were received as informational items.

Ending: The board moved from reports to speakers on nonvoting items and then adjourned after no public comments were made.
