Gray said Public Works determined the northwest corner offered a larger, flatter area and space for a drive‑through bay required for fire trucks. She told the commission the assembly approved an earlier classification of a different portion of the parcel in February and that an interdepartmental review of the new classification produced no objections. Gray said a 30‑day public notice for the new proposal produced one supportive comment.
Commissioner Glenn moved to adopt Resolution 25-05; Commissioner McCabe seconded. With no discussion and no objections, the commission passed the resolution.
Why it matters: Staff said the department plans to combine Fire Stations 52 and 65 into the new site; the combined design and simultaneous bidding could reduce costs, according to Gray. Station 52 is located at the corner of Bogart and Inkstrom Road and Station 65 at the corner of Seward Meridian and the Pomerwasala Highway, and Public Works provided a site predesign and engineering report included in the commission packet.
