Commission endorses advisory-committee appointments and approves previous meeting minutes; all motions pass unanimously

The Parks and Community Services Commission at its March 12 meeting approved the Feb. 12, 2025 meeting minutes and recommended several candidates for appointment to city advisory committees. All motions recorded in open session passed without recorded opposition.
The commission voted to:
- Approve minutes from the Feb. 12, 2025 regular meeting (motion moved and seconded; outcome recorded as passed).
- Recommend several appointments to the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee to the City Council (names recommended: Colette Clark to a term expiring March 2026; Sandra March, Judith Murphy and Zeno Rasmussen to terms expiring March 2027). The commission's recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for appointment at its March 25 meeting.
- Recommend three applicants for the Library Advisory Committee to the City Council (names recommended: Sandra Silver, Jennifer Adams and Musumi Kadakota, terms expiring March 2027). One applicant had been ineligible and another could not be interviewed; the committee agreed to reopen the vacancy for a later appointment.
- Recommend appointments to the Arts Advisory Committee (names recommended: Ken Costanzo, Serene Vassa, Mana Parrada, Robert Mazer and Naina Sashry as regular members with terms expiring March 2027; Dinesh Goverdaro as alternate No. 2 with term expiring March 2026). Those recommendations will be forwarded to the City Council for confirmation.
Commissioners moved and seconded each recommendation in open session; votes were called and recorded as unanimous when announced on the record (7-0). The commission also noted that some applicants had applied to multiple committees and that scheduling constrained a small number of interviews; the commission's recommendations will be transmitted to the City Council for final appointment.
