San Ramon highlights retail-theft task force and new police drone first-responder program

Under that model, a remotely piloted aircraft can be launched by a remote pilot when dispatch receives a Priority 1 or Priority 2 call; the drone can arrive on scene in minutes, stream live video to officers and provide situational awareness to shape the responding officers’ tactics.
The city official said drones serve as an early information tool that can reduce response time and help clarify the type of response officers need on arrival.
