The Utah County Commission on April 19 approved two agenda items related to the Pinion Creek solar project, clearing the county-level actions required for the project to proceed.
Project purpose and benefits: Project representatives said the solar development is structured to generate lease or tax revenue for NEBO School District, providing supplemental funding for a district that county staff said had among the lowest funding per pupil in recent comparisons.
County and developer statements: Jamie Armoff, representing the Pinion Creek project, thanked the commission and staff for assistance and said the team is “really excited to bring this project to the county.” County staff noted the project is designed to avoid new travel infrastructure impacts while supplementing the regional power supply.
What the commission approved: Commissioners approved items 26 and 27 by voice vote. Staff said the project ambitions include time-limited leases or agreements that produce revenue for the school district without permanent local infrastructure changes; commissioners and staff praised interagency coordination with NEBO School District.
Next steps: The developer will proceed with the remaining permit, interconnection and construction steps required by state and utility authorities. County staff will continue to coordinate project conditions and agreements.
