Staff overview: Richard Nelson, the county’s public-works director, told commissioners Galloway submitted a price to design remodels on the first through third floors of the administration building. The county has completed the recorder’s office on the first floor and HR on the third floor and is finishing a portion of the attorney’s office on the second floor. Nelson said using recently vacated space in the Health and Justice Building could allow the county to do two remodels at a time and shorten an estimated three- to four-year schedule.
Budget and new project: Rudy Livingston, deputy auditor and chair of the CIP committee, said the committee brought the adjustments to avoid repeating prior budget shortfalls related to inflation and bid increases. Staff presented a simplified spreadsheet showing changes; the county reported about $160,000 of currently unallotted CIP funds, and officials said many line items were reconciled to 2023 actuals and updated cost estimates.
Regulatory and design details: Nelson said the remodel work will include restroom updates to comply with new state rules on single‑use restrooms in public buildings. The added security center gun‑range classroom project is currently budgeted for design only, with construction planned for 2027 pending funding.

Commissioners said staff will return with the 2025–34 CIP later this year and that project timing depends on availability of temporary space and funding.
