Judge Executive schedules closed work session with NextEra and Hillstone on proposed solar farms; public may submit questions by May 1

Daviess County Judge Executive Charlie Casson on April 24 said the fiscal court will hold a work session attended by representatives of NextEra and Hillstone to address residents' questions about proposed solar farms and county solar rules.

Casson said the initial work session will be limited to the judge executive, the three commissioners and representatives from NextEra and Hillstone; the public will not be permitted to speak at that meeting. Residents who have concerns or questions may submit written questions in advance. "This is the last call for written questions to be asked at a work session that will be attended by representatives from NextEra and/or Hillstone," Casson said, and he asked residents to email questions with the subject line "solar questions/concerns" to ccastlin@davisky.org by May 1, 2025.

Casson said the county will compile submitted questions and deliver them to the companies ahead of the work session so the companies can provide complete answers. He also said a follow-up work session will be scheduled at which members of the public will be allowed to speak.

No date was set at the April 24 meeting for the initial work session or the public follow-up; Casson said he would notify residents after a date and time are confirmed.
