During committee reports, the assistant natural resources director announced that he resigned effective May 8. He said county staff are prepared to continue department work during the transition.
County staff identified interim assignments: Brett Scherrer, introduced earlier as the interim assistant natural resources director for certain functions, will cover project aspects of parks work and lead the county’s water-resources initiative in addition to land-resources duties. Paul Flitter, a long-serving parks employee, was promoted to a supervisor position and will handle parks operations, scheduling and business-manager coordination.
The departing assistant director thanked committee members and staff, and supervisors expressed appreciation for his service. County staff said the parks and natural-resources teams will continue ongoing projects and that next steps for filling the permanent position will follow departmental hiring procedures.
Ending: Supervisors wished the departing staff member well; staff emphasized continuity of operations during the interim assignments.
