The School Board of Broward County unanimously approved a 2025 graduation use license agreement with Nova Southeastern University at the special meeting Monday.
Board members moved and seconded the item without public comment. Staff reported the district spends just north of $700,000 on leased venues for graduation ceremonies, including the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, while other graduations are held on school campuses.
A district representative said the operations team is reviewing options to reduce costs by holding more ceremonies in district facilities where feasible. “We can accommodate many of our high schools,” the staff member said, and staff committed to provide a follow-up to the board on potential cost savings.
The motion to approve the license agreement passed unanimously.
