Natural Resources committee advances four bills in work session; all pass unanimously

The committee passed Senate Bill 10, which changes reporting schedules for the state land registrar and repeals a reporting requirement for the state forest or fire warden. Vice Chair Leroux Hatch moved the motion and Assemblymember Watts seconded it; the committee approved the motion unanimously. The committee assigned Assemblymember Kasama to deliver the floor statement.
The committee also passed Senate Bill 19, which ratifies the Great Plains Wild Land Fire Protection Compact and the Northwest Fire Protection Agreement. The motion to do pass was moved by Assemblymember Leroux Hatch, seconded by Assemblymember Watts, and a third sponsor was noted as Assemblymember Carris. The motion passed unanimously; the work session floor statement was assigned to Vice Chair Leroux Hatch.
Senate Bill 21, sponsored by the Senate Committee on Natural Resources on behalf of the Division of Outdoor Recreation, expands authorized uses for grants from the Outdoor Education and Recreation Grant Program. Vice Chair Leroux Hatch moved the do-pass motion; Assemblymember Karas seconded. The committee approved the motion unanimously and assigned Assemblymember Jackson to deliver the floor statement.
Senate Bill 43, sponsored by the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services on behalf of the Division of Environmental Protection, revises provisions for district boards of health acting as solid waste management authorities and for administering/enforcing public water system provisions. An amendment to SB 43 also added a definition of "private club" for exclusion from the definition of a public swimming pool in chapter 444 of the Nevada Revised Statutes. Vice Chair Leroux Hatch moved the motion with a second from Assemblymember DeLong; the motion passed unanimously and the floor statement was taken by Vice Chair Leroux Hatch.
All four measures were approved by voice vote with the committee recording unanimous support during the work session. The committee chair noted the packed agenda and thanked members for staying through the work session.
