The Arlington Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 20 voted on multiple personnel and property items, approving them by unanimous votes.
The board ratified the administrative appointment discussed in closed session: Taina Northington was approved as Arlington ISD’s chief communications officer. Trustee Larry Mike moved to ratify the appointment; Trustee Fowler seconded. Vice President Sarah McMurray announced her vote as yes and the board recorded the motion as unanimous in favor.
Trustees approved several contract actions. The board voted to approve the teacher probationary and term contracts presented at the meeting; a motion to approve was made and seconded and carried 6–0. Trustees likewise approved term contracts for administrative and professional staff by a unanimous vote.
The board also voted to terminate the probationary contract of a district employee identified in the agenda as Jordan Versi. Trustee Fowler moved and Trustee Haynes seconded the motion to terminate “in the best interest of the district.” The motion carried 6–0.
On property matters, trustees approved two easement-related resolutions for Anderson Elementary School: (1) a resolution and temporary construction easement for installation of a public sanitary sewer line (motion by Trustee Mike, second by Trustee Wilbanks), and (2) a resolution granting a public sanitary sewer easement (motion by Trustee Haynes, second by Trustee Mike). Both measures passed unanimously.
The board approved the consent agenda as presented, with no items pulled for separate discussion.
Several votes were taken orally with roll-call or verbal confirmation of the vice president’s vote; where individual votes were not read into the record, the board recorded the final tallies as indicated above. No votes recorded in the transcript failed.
Minutes and staff reports associated with each action are part of the official meeting packet.
Ending: The board completed the action portion of its agenda and moved to the consent items before opening the public forum later in the meeting.
