Tyner, speaking as a cyclist, asked motorists to be patient, yield to cyclists when appropriate and give at least three feet when it is safe to pass. He urged cyclists to follow traffic laws, ride in the same direction as traffic, use bike lanes, signal turns and stops, wear visible clothing and use lights. Tyner emphasized helmet use, citing a friend who survived a high‑speed crash because of a helmet.
Councilmember Renee Franklin then listed community events: a 4 Paws fundraiser at 1309 Trinity running today through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; an evening at the library on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with food, games and entertainment; the Benbrook American Legion Post 297 fish and grilled chicken event on Friday; a VFW steak night Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and the Benbrook Artisan and Farmers Market on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside the Benbrook Community Center.
