Columbus — The Ohio House unanimously approved Senate Bill 14 on Tuesday to designate Sept. 28 as Speaker Joanne Davidson Day, the chamber reported 92–0 on the recorded vote.
Representative Ray, speaking in favor, described Speaker Joanne Davidson as a trailblazer and urged colleagues to honor her legacy. "This day would give us all a chance to remember what she stood for and to inspire generations to come," Ray said.
Representative King and other members recounted Davidson's lengthy public service and her work founding the Joanne Davidson Ohio Leadership Institute to encourage and train women for public leadership. Representative Russo and others noted Davidson's post-legislative mentorship and the institute's role in increasing women's participation in Ohio public life.
After floor remarks the clerk reported 92 affirmative votes and zero negatives; the bill passed the House and will proceed for enrollment.
