Council proclaims May 2025 Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

The Janesville Common Council on April 28 unanimously adopted file resolution 2025-2343, proclaiming May 2025 as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in the City of Janesville.
Council Vice President Squire moved to adopt the proclamation; Councilmember Cass seconded. Councilmember Squire spoke personally about his family’s connection to Asia and the diversity of the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. The council voted unanimously to adopt the proclamation.
Nick Faust, assistant to the city manager, thanked the council for recognizing Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and noted local AAPI-serving leaders and organizations. Faust also dedicated the acceptance of the proclamation to the memory of Billy Bob Grama, a Bad River Band of Ojibwe member and local advocate for inclusion; he offered condolences to Grama’s family and called Grama’s civic work a “living legacy.”
