The Bannock County Board of Commissioners approved a request to waive pavilion rental fees and allow use of county trails for a family-focused fun run planned for September.
Michaela Prohaska identified herself as the director of wellness programs at Fortnite Health Trust and described a planned family event to wrap up Kind Week in mid‑September. Prohaska said the event would offer multiple distances — a 1‑mile option and 5K/10K routes — and provide snacks for participants. She said the pavilion rental fee being requested for waiver was $100 and that the organizers asked for access to the county trail system; the group would not close the park or the complex to other users during the event.
Organizers estimated turnout could range from about 100 to as many as 500 people, depending on outreach and registration. Commissioners discussed potential conflicts with an existing “Friday night lights” schedule at the complex and agreed on staging plans to route participants around the busy areas; staff and the applicant discussed starting the event early enough to avoid peak facility congestion.
A motion to approve the pavilion fee waiver and event request carried on a voice vote with commissioners saying “aye.” County staff noted event logistics — including route marking, signage, and parking — would be coordinated with parks staff and that no closures were planned.
