Albany High FCCLA students qualify for national competition; five to represent district

Assistant/administrator Lesko introduced five students heading to nationals in Florida after placing at the state event. Students said their STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) projects covered topics including nonverbal communication and deaf community access, critiques of BMI as a health metric, entrepreneurship proposals for a mental‑health facility for young people, cultural/communication issues for multilingual families, and the use of AI in psychotherapy to expand access. One additional student received a bronze medal and was recognized as well.
Board members and the superintendent praised the students for their research and public speaking. Advisors and the board encouraged community support for the students’ travel to the national competition.
