School committee accepts executive-session action on West Kingston investigation and approves transportation resolution for state advocacy

The South Kingstown School Committee voted to accept a final action taken in executive session regarding the West Kingston Elementary School investigation and to seal the minutes of that executive session. The committee also approved a resolution asking the state to address school-transportation funding and agreed to distribute the resolution to the town's legislative delegation and other school committees.

At the start of the meeting the committee recessed to executive session under citations the chair read aloud referencing Rhode Island law and notified affected individuals of their right to request open-session discussion. After returning to open session, the committee passed a motion to seal the minutes of the executive session; the chair said a vote taken in executive session would be disclosed at an appropriate time.
