The City Council interviewed three candidates for one opening on the Library Board of Trustees and selected Courtney Fletcher by motion and roll-call vote. Mayor Doreen called for nominations following interviews; the council discussed candidates' diverse experience and community ties before appointing Fletcher.
Separately the council appointed Emma Leggett as the alternate member to the Active Transportation and Sustainability Committee; Leggett was the only applicant for that alternate seat and the council approved her appointment unanimously.
Why it matters: Library board members and advisory committee alternates advise the council on programming, facilities and sustainability/active transportation matters. Council members urged applicants who were not selected to remain engaged and encouraged residents to attend meetings and apply for future openings.
