In departmental reports, a county official said girders (beams) for the Berry Road bridge have arrived and crews set the first spans; the longest girder was reported as about 26 feet and weighing about 26,000 pounds. The official said additional sets were planned for the coming week.
A sheriff's department representative reported last week’s calls for service and year‑to‑date totals (recorded in the meeting as “04:05” last week and 5,831 for the year) and said the current inmate population was 139. The sheriff’s office highlighted its “Warrant Wednesday” operations, reporting six successful warrant arrests in recent weeks (“6 for 6”).
The sheriff’s representative also said the department is testing and evaluating four or five body‑worn camera systems but has not budgeted for them yet. He warned that adoption involves policy, storage and staffing considerations: battery life for 12‑hour shifts, retention and public‑records responses, and privacy rules for juveniles and other sensitive situations. The department said it intends to complete testing so a purchase could be considered in a future budget.
A county employee who oversees roads reported ongoing patching, driveway culvert installations and preparatory work for an upcoming overlay program. Residents supply culvert pipe material and the county crews perform placement and rocking; staff said minimum recommended culvert length is generally 15 feet.
Commissioners closed the meeting with a motion to adjourn.
