The town solicited competitive bids after determining the project’s dollar amount required formal bidding; no bids were received at the bid opening on April 15. Staff reported three price options investigated: a Home Depot kit at $6,305.97 without a roof and with substantial assembly labor; a Reed's Ferry Shed quote priced at $9,946.50 that included a complete shed, roof system, onsite assembly on the slab and a 30-year warranty; and a local contractor quote (Gilmore Construction) for a stick-built shed at $12,875.
Because no competitive bids were received, staff recommended buying from Reed's Ferry at $9,946.50. A councilor moved to authorize the DPW director to make the purchase; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
The council entered the contract purchase authorization; the record does not show additional funding votes because the senior-center capital account had an existing balance sufficient to cover the purchase.
